ADR 0014: Site logo is the supplied Duckbill™ lockup
Context
ADR 0012 put the official brand package on the site. Header chrome used the mascot icon plus a typed Duckbill™ so the mark stayed readable at a small header size. The owner then supplied a stacked lockup that already includes the stylized wordmark, a baked-in ™, and the tagline A SMARTER INBOX, and asked to use that image as the logo.
Decision
Use brand/assets/duckbill-logo-lockup.png as the site logo. Serve it from apps/web/public/brand/duckbill-logo-lockup.png. Header and homepage hero render that image only. Do not add a typed ™ beside the lockup. Keep ProductMark for inline body copy. Keep prior packaged marks on disk. Leave /og.png as the packaged social card.
Size the header lockup so the platypus and ™ stay readable. Do not scale the square lockup down to a small icon size.
Alternatives
- Keep the mascot-plus-typed-wordmark header from ADR 0012 — rejected; the owner supplied a lockup that already has the ™.
- Crop the lockup to the mascot only — rejected; the supplied file is the logo.
Consequences
duckbill.jasonkoch.io and duckbill-dev.jasonkoch.io show the lockup in the header and as the homepage H1. Typed Duckbill™ remains for sentences. This supersedes the ADR 0012 header rule that forbade the full square lockup in chrome.
